Adunni Adewale, popularly known as Adunni Ade, was born on 7 June 1976 in Queens, New York, USA, to a German-Irish mother and a Nigerian Yoruba father. She spent part of her childhood in Lagos, Nigeria, where she was immersed in Nigerian culture, before returning to the United States for her education.

She studied Accounting at the University of Kentucky in the U.S., but her passion for the arts led her to modeling and acting.
