

Simisola Bolatito Kosoko (née Ogunleye), popularly known as Simi, was born on 19 April 1988 in Ojuelegba, Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria. She is the last of four children and grew up in Lagos after her parents’ separation during her childhood.
Simi attended Stars International College, Ikorodu, before studying Mass Communication at Covenant University. Before pursuing music full-time, she was a gospel singer, songwriter, and sound engineer, showcasing her versatility in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Simi’s career began in gospel music, with the release of her debut album Ogaju in 2008, which included singles like Ara Ile. However, she transitioned into secular music and gained attention in 2014 with the single Tiff, which earned critical acclaim and was nominated at the Headies.
Her big breakthrough came in 2016–2017 with the release of Jamb Question and her debut mainstream album Simisola. Over the years, she has become known for her angelic voice, heartfelt lyrics, and ability to blend Afropop with R&B, Soul, and Highlife.
In 2019, Simi launched her own record label, Studio Brat, after leaving X3M Music.

Simi has collaborated with Nigerian and African stars including Adekunle Gold, Falz (notably on their joint Chemistry EP, 2016), Patoranking, and others.
Simi married fellow singer Adekunle Gold in 2019, and they have a daughter, Adejare “Deja” Kosoko. Their relationship is admired as one of Nigeria’s most loved celebrity unions.
