For decades, the playful rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana over who makes the best jollof rice—the famous “Jollof Wars”—has animated kitchens and debates across Africa. By scaling Nigeria’s version to record-breaking proportions, Hilda proudly placed her country at the center of the conversation.
“This record is not just mine, it belongs to every Nigerian who loves and shares jollof rice,” Hilda said after Guinness’ confirmation. “It represents joy, culture, and our spirit of community.”
Hilda Baci, born Hilda Bassey, first rose to international fame in 2023 with her Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, an achievement that inspired millions across Africa. With this latest recognition, she has solidified her role as a global ambassador for Nigerian cuisine.
From Lagos to London, Nigerians at home and abroad are celebrating the news. Social media exploded with praise, memes, and videos of the monumental jollof pot, hailing Hilda as the chef who “won the Jollof Wars” for Nigeria.
With Guinness World Records’ official stamp of approval, Hilda’s achievement is not just an entry in a book—it’s a cultural victory that reinforces Nigeria’s culinary legacy on the world stage.
