Early Life & Background
Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua, popularly known as Seyi Shay, was born on 21 December 1985 in Tottenham, London, United Kingdom, to Nigerian parents of Yoruba descent. She grew up in a Christian household and developed a passion for music from a young age, influenced by her family’s love for gospel and R&B.
Seyi studied Music Business Management at the University of East London, equipping herself with both artistic and industry knowledge.
Music Career Beginnings
Seyi Shay began her music career in London, where she joined the girl group “From Above”, managed by Beyoncé’s father, Mathew Knowles.
