Step-by-Step Guide to Renewing or Replacing a Lost Yellow Card in Nigeria
The Yellow Card (International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis, ICVP) is a mandatory travel document for Nigerians going abroad. It proves you’ve received the yellow fever vaccine, which is required by many countries.
If your card is lost, damaged, or expired, here’s how to renew or replace it in Nigeria.
📌 Step 1: Confirm If You Really Need a Renewal
Since 2016, the yellow fever vaccine is valid for life after one dose, according to WHO.
However, you may still need a new Yellow Card if:
Your card is lost or stolen.
Your card is damaged or illegible.
You were issued an old (non-digital) Yellow Card and need the newer digital QR-coded version.
📌 Step 2: Gather Required Documents
You’ll need:
A valid international passport
NIN or government-issued ID
Personal details (name, date of birth, nationality)
