Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III was born on 17 December 1977 in Gombe, Northern Nigeria.
He is the son of Emir Shehu Usman Abubakar II (1984–2014), the 10th Emir of Gombe.
Belongs to the Bubayero dynasty, founded by Modibbo Bubayero, the Fulani scholar who established the Gombe Emirate in 1805 under the Sokoto Caliphate.
