Early Life and Background

Panshak Henry Zamani, popularly known as Ice Prince, was born on 30 October 1984 in Minna, Niger State, Nigeria. His family later moved to Jos, Plateau State, where he grew up and developed a deep interest in music.

He attended St. Murumba College, Jos, and later studied Zoology at the University of Jos before focusing fully on music. While in Jos, he became part of the city’s vibrant hip-hop community that also birthed stars like M.I Abaga, Jesse Jagz, and the late DJinee.

Musical Career

Early Days with Loopy Crew

Ice Prince started rapping in secondary school and, in 2002, formed a group called the Ecomog Squad, which later disbanded. He then joined the Loopy Crew, founded by M.I Abaga and Jesse Jagz, which became a breeding ground for modern Nigerian hip-hop.

Breakthrough

His breakthrough came in 2010 with the release of “Oleku” (feat. Brymo), one of Nigeria’s most remixed and covered songs of all time. The single launched Ice Prince into nationwide fame and made him one of the most influential rappers of the 2010s.

In 2011, he released his debut album Everybody Loves Ice Prince, which featured Oleku, Superstar, and JuJu.
